Free-to-use ATMs scheme for low-income areas

The National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) has joined forces with HSBC bank to establish more free-to-use ATMs in the CTN and convenience sector.

Working with UK ATM network operator Link, the partnership will single out locations in low-income areas that would benefit from a free ATM service.

This scheme supports the Government’s current initiative to provide socially deprived areas with free access to cash.

43 NFRN members have received free to use ATMs to date.

“This initiative will provide significant benefits for our members as well as providing the local community with a tremendously valuable service,” said Graeme Collins, NFRN head of marketing and business development.

“Not only will customers be able to conveniently withdraw their cash without charge, the retailers themselves can expect to see tangible returns with increased footfall and store sales.”
