RETAILERS can now claim hundreds of pounds of free petrol a year simply for stocking and displaying a selection of top selling brands.
Drive Miles is a new initiative that rewards retailers with tokens for free fuel for buying specific brands from top suppliers.
To take part retailers have to collect Drive Miles tokens or barcodes from packs and cases of key brands and submit them to organizer BRANDwidth Marketing, organisers of the Drive Miles scheme. Free fuel coupons will then be mailed out in return.
There are further incentives available to retailers who follow merchandising guides and run customer promotions.
The scheme covers a range of core categories and has so far teamed up with Gallaher, Nestlé Rowntree and Procter & Gamble. Four more major suppliers are expected to join the scheme before June.
Brands and categories covered by the scheme include:
* Tobacco: Benson & Hedges Silver, Mayfair Superkings, Amber Leaf
* Snacks: Pringles
* Laundry: Daz, Ariel, Bold, Lenor, Fairy, Flash
* Confectionery: Smarties, Rolo, Munchies, Rowntrees, Milkybar
* Paper products: Charmin and Bounty
* Health and beauty: Pantene, Head & Shoulders
