ACS to seek more community heroes

The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has launched its Community Heroes Award 2009, which aims to recognise retailers who put in a lot of effort and energy working for their local community.

It is looking for entries from retailers “who can demonstrate that they and their staff have achieved something that has made a real and tangible difference to their community environment”.

The association is keen to hear from “retailers of all sizes who go the extra mile and create sustainable relationships and activities that set them apart as community leaders”.

Examples might include: providing services for vulnerable members of the community, or organising events that boost relationships locally.

The shortlist will be drawn up by a panel of industry experts, while the winner will be chosen through an online vote by visitors to the ACS website. The 2009 award is sponsored by P&G.

Entry forms are available on www.acs.org.uk or by calling 01252 515001. Deadline for entries is 12 March.
