Independents wanted by specialist food provider

Wednesday, 26 November 2008
Independent retailers have been urged to do business with a specialist food provider, which said it is currently beating the economic downturn.

Bia Nua, which makes wheat, gluten and dairy-free items, said it wants to boost the number of outlets it currently trades in.

Sarah Murphy, one half of the team that operates the firm, said retailers who decide to market its products will get assistance.

She commented: "We give free POS and promotional support, and have small case sizes, and if you buy direct we can get products to you within two days.

"We have gone back to basics to guarantee high quality, and excellent results. We know from our turnover we have a superior product and that people are crying out for them."

The firm produces food such as biscuits, bread, cakes and pastries.

Earlier this week, convenience strores said they were dissapointed by the Chancellor's pre-Budget report, claiming the measures in it will not give them enough of a boost in the recession.
