UK Fairtrade sales up by 72%


Worldwide consumers spent more than £1.8bn on Fairtrade-certified products in 2007, a 47% increase over the previous year.


And Fairtrade sales in the UK increased even faster, growing by 72% to an estimated £560m.

Worldwide, sales of juices almost quadrupled, sugar doubled and bananas were up by 72%.

Fairtrade coffee sales grew by 19%.

The figures were released today by the Fairtrade Foundation.
