Tesco faces battery of protest over eggs

Tesco will this week endure a series of protests outside its stores over the sale of eggs from caged hens.

Pressure group Compassion in World Farming has organised a “Tesco Action Week” from 3-11 November to highlight the supermarket group’s stance.

An EU-wide ban on caged hens is due to come into force in 2012.

But the protestors want Tesco to show its support in advance by committing to either a reduction or ban.

Eight demonstrations took place on Saturday (3 November) with a further ten scheduled between today and next Saturday.

CIWF also has Asda in its sights.
