Henderson retail group turnover passes £400m mark
Local symbol group wholesaler and retailer Henderson Group has announced turnover of £407m for the 2007 financial year, an 8.3% increase on 2006.
Profit before tax was £9.8m, up from £8.9m in 2006. The company, which owns the franchise for the Spar, Eurospar, Vivo, VivoXtra and Vivo Essentials retail brands in Northern Ireland, supplies almost 400 independent retail partners through Henderson Wholesale as well as owning and operating 60 convenience stores and petrol forecourts through Henderson Retail, Northern Irelands largest independent fuel site operator. The Group employs almost 2,000 through its head office base at Mallusk, its company owned store estate and its Henderson Foodservice arm. A further 5,000 are employed by its independent retail partners. The group said it would invest more than £20m in 2008 to help develop its independent retail partners businesses and its company-owned estate throughout the coming year. This builds upon last years investment of over £18m. In the past twelve months, Henderson Group opened 17 new stores under the Spar, Eurospar, Vivo, and VivoXtra brands and launched a new convenience store format, Vvio Essentials, of which over 40 stores have now opened across the province.
