Tesco's Terry Leahy paid £5.5m last year
Tesco's chief executive Sir Terry Leahy received a bonus of more than £4m, on top of his basic salary of £1.3m, according to the company's annual report. His bonus was made up of nearly £1.2m in cash and £2.9m in shares. The £5.5m total was up 18.5% from just £4.6m last year. Tim Mason, who heads Tescos US venture Fresh & Easy, took home a total of £4.5m, up from £3.8m. Their pay packets compare with those of rivals Justin King at Sainsburys who is to pick up a £6.5m bonus and Morrisons boss Marc Bolland who picked up a meagre £706,000 bonus on top of his £721,000 salary.
