Morrisons has been named Multiple Retailer of the Year at the Re:fresh Awards, held last night in London.
It was judged to have achieved most in the fresh produce category in the last 12 months.
Morrisons won the award in recognition of its “strong and long-running relationships with British producers and the fact that care is taken to source local and traditional produce wherever possible.”
Michael Velasco, president of the Fresh Produce Consortium and member of the judging panel, said: "We are pleased to crown Morrisons the Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year 2008.
“Their drive and dedication to supplying customers with highest quality product has out-shone the competition and sourcing seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables is clearly high on their agenda.
“The retailer has undergone a lot of change in the past few years but is now out-performing the market place and demonstrating an exciting range of fresh products.”
