There are no plans to ban “Mosquito” sonic devices used to disperse gangs of teenagers, the Government has said.

In a statement issued after the calls for a ban, it stated: "Mosquito alarms are not banned and the Government has no plans to do so.

"Obviously no-one would want to have to use a device like this, and it should very much be seen as a last resort.

"We will continue to tackle the underlying problems through better neighbourhood policing, giving young people alternative things to do in their spare time and, where necessary, using the powers we have put in place to prevent anti-social behaviour."

Earlier today, use of the devices was defended by the Association of Convenience Stores, while the makers of Mosquito denied suggestions it was an infringement of teenagers’ human rights.

The concept of after school programs is great, problem is they usually cost, alot of the kids in my area do not have money and being teenagers it isn't "cool" to go to the park so they stand in front of stores or just walk up and down the street being loud and annoying if you say anything to them they will come back and do something to your car or house, now a days they carry guns This device eliminates confrontation all together and the fact is if the parent cared their kids wouldn't be hanging out in front of stores,or parking lots most of these parents are at work or just don't care where their kids are.
