Waitrose eyes more foodhall concepts
Waitrose is planning to develop up to ten foodhalls as part of the retailer's broader plan to expand the business in the next decade.
It follows after John Lewis, in partnership with Waitrose, recently opened the doors to its first foodhall in its Oxford Street flagship store in London.
In an interview with The Guardian, Waitrose managing director Mark Price confirmed plans to develop similar foodhalls in other locations. John Lewis' department store in Cardiff has been confirmed as the group's next Foodhall target.
Price told the paper that he was keen to gain the patronage of more than six million other people who do not have a Waitrose within reach of them. The group currently has 186 stores and enjoys a 4% share of the country's grocery sales.
