The Office of Fair Trading has decided not to refer Tesco's proposed acquisition of Dobbies Garden Centres to the Competition Commission.

The OFT said it would post the full text of its decision on its website as soon as possible.

It is still unclear whether the takeover will go ahead. Tesco recently extended the deadline for acceptances of its offer until 8 August, while businessman Sir Tom Hunter - who already holds a 26% stake in the company - may yet launch a counter bid.
