Tesco has added the option of bag-free delivery to its Tesco.com online ordering service.
The company says the new "naked delivery" option is in response to customer concerns about the number of plastic bags used for home shopping.
The initiative is one of a number of Tesco projects aimed at saving one billion carrier bags a year.
Tesco.com shoppers can now choose to have their groceries delivered without bags when making an order online.
Customers who select the “delivery without bags” option will have their products delivered in stackable green trays direct to their kitchens. Customers who choose this option will also receive extra Clubcard points.
Laura Wade-Gery, CEO of Tesco.com, said: “Giving our online customers the option of home delivery without bags will help them to make a positive environmental choice."
The retailer claims to be the first UK home delivery service to go carrier bag-free.
