Winners of the 2007 Checkout Convenience Awards were announced Friday, 11 May 2007, at a lunchtime awards ceremony at Vinopolis in Central London. ![]() Judges for the event, now in its third year, gave the accolade of Convenience Champion to Jerry Marwood, managing director of Spar UK. Marwood was honoured for his diligent work toward achieving a balanced retail market. Judges applauded his vision of a nationwide network of stores that serve the needs of local communities via different commercial solutions. Spar scooped a total of four awards at the event, including Convenience Champion. The collaboration between BP Connect and Marks & Spencer that brought Simply Food stores to petrol forecourts was awarded Best Convenience Store Format of the Year. And, Budgens beat rivals Somerfield and Henderson Retail to be crowned Best Fresh & Chilled Convenience Retailer of the Year for the second year running. I see Carat have won... I see Carat have won the 15m media buying and planning account for Birdseye since it split with Unilever. It'll be interesting to see what sort of marketing and support the trade will get from Birdseye now that it's a stand-alone... |
