A statement from the board of Nisa-Today's sent to members branded the Nisa Members Association (NMA) “counterproductive” and said it will not be recognised by the company.
Nisa Today's: no longer recognises Nisa Members Association
The NMA is a group of Nisa-Today's members that fought the proposed merger between Nisa-Today's and Costcutter. The merger eventually fell through because of a cartel allegation made to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
A statement from Nisa-Today's Holding Board said: The activities of the NMA have not added value to the future prosperity of Nisa-Today's and have been largely counterproductive.
We wish to place on record that the board and company do not recognise the role or activities of the NMA.
Over the past year our company has had to deal with numerous issues that this organisation has raised.
This has caused considerable damage to our standing in the trade, distracted our executives from being totally focused and resulted in substantial legal costs.
We cannot allow these negative politics to continue.
Nisa-Today's board also pledged its commitment to a trading relationship with Costcutter which has a further eight years to run, but there are no plans to merge the two companies.
The statement said: However, we can absolutely confirm that there are no plans for a merger between the two companies, or similar.
As a result of Edwin Booth's decision to stand down as non-executive chairman of Nisa-Today's, Raj Chatha has been appointed in his position.
At last the Board has come out and said what the "silent majority" of the Nisa membership have wanted to hear for months. We have been members for over 25years and buy over 20,000 cases a week through Nisa we just want to see our company grow alongside a strong and united Nisa-Todays. Please drop the politics now NMA and get on with running your own businessess and not trying to influence mine.

1)the nma saw no benefit in merging with costcutter
2)there were certain activities which nisa were carrying out which nma highlighted and nisa have changed to their ways on those matters
3)nma wants nisa to be more successful and bring more benifits to nisa members , and also recruit aggressively to increase the membership.
4)nma and nisa should talk to each other to bring a positive outcome and to enhance nisa-today's.
5)when it comes to recruiting maybe nisa can take a leaf out of costcutter / londis etc
