Tesco to stage Scottish local supplier event

Tesco is hosting its third Enjoy the Taste of Scotland event in Glasgow this month (April).

Held in the city’s George Square from 25 to 27 April, it will showcase more than 100 suppliers and is free to attend.

The theme of this year’s event is “Get to know Scotland’s Locals” and is described as a celebration of Scottish food and drink.

Tesco is expecting 20,000 visitors will attend.

Exhibitors will come from across the country and include Mackie’s of Scotland (ice cream), Castle McLellan Foods (påté), Inveralmond Brewery (premium beers) and Benromach (whisky).

In addition to suppliers, the event will include a celebrity cookery theatre featuring four of Scotland’s top chefs.

There will also be a family-friendly kids zone, featuring fun food workshops, a kids’ kitchen and activities.

Tesco’s Scottish marketing manager, Angus Bell, said: “This event allows us to showcase the wide range of Scottish products available in our stores, as well as to demonstrate the unique ways in which some of Scotland’s top chefs use these home-grown products to make mouth-watering dishes.”

The show is open to media and invited guests on 25 April between 2pm and 6pm and to the public from 10am to 6pm on 26 April and 10am to 4pm on 27 April.

There is no admission for under 18s unless accompanied by an adult.
