Source : Torex Retail Holdings Limited

Torex Retail Holdings Limited, the leading European-based global provider of software and solutions to the extended retail marketplace, will showcase for the first time its global petroleum and convenience solution portfolio at the Convenience Retailing Show 2008 in Birmingham, UK (6th–9th April 2008, Stand E41).

This solution set includes enhanced Point of Service (POS) and Back-Office systems for handling both wet and dry stock, specifically developed for the petroleum and convenience retailer with integration into a new digital dashboard.

Also on display will be the Torex Outdoor Payment Terminal and Petrol 24/7 alert system, which will show how Torex can truly manage operational needs from tank to bank.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our customers in the petroleum and convenience sector an end-to-end, next-generation platform based on the in-depth experience that Torex has in this particular industry.

“Our employees have spent more than two decades working hand-in-hand with convenience store and forecourt owners and have an unrivalled understanding of their business drivers; this has allowed us to lead the market with continual innovation in this area.

“Our new solution portfolio simplifies the complexity that has developed within the petroleum and convenience market to allow our customers to better meet their customers’ expectations,” said Graeme Cooksley, President and COO, Torex.

The solution is an open standards-based POS designed to meet the needs of petroleum and convenience retailers to improve the customer experience.

Based on Java, the solution can run on either Windows or Linux, and is hardware-independent, making it highly configurable, quick to implement and simple to maintain whilst also allowing for maximum investment in previous hardware.

Enhanced features include:

• Real-time data flow: Data is transferred between the POS and the back-office in real-time, providing increased visibility into operations for improved sales and service.

• Digital dashboards: For the first time, petroleum and convenience store owners will have a graphical representation of the performance of a particular store at any time, allowing for on-demand decision making.

• Integration of wet and dry stock sales: Items such as petrol and groceries can appear on the same transaction, speeding up customer service.

• Global industry standards: the solution is compliant with NAxml, a convenience standard in the US and also observed in the UK, and the IFSF (International Forecourts Standards Forum) architecture to ensure no single point of failure.

The solution integrates into the Torex Prism-POS back office, including support for automatic replenishment, price and product update functionality as well as reconciliation of electronic delivery notes.

Torex Prism-POS allows managers to oversee their businesses completely, monitoring margin levels and employee activity to ensure greater efficiency and increased profitability. The Torex petrol solution can also integrate into third-party back-office systems, allowing forecourt and convenience store owners improved flexibility and choice.

Additionally, Torex will also be showing an outdoor payment terminal, which is fully integrated with the POS solution, allowing customers to have the option of quick payment for petrol at the pump. The outdoor payment terminal supports more than 100 different pump types, including legacy and modern pumps.

Also on display will be Torex Power-POS for convenience, which delivers both high levels of multi-branch management information for convenience retailers as well as better control and productivity at the individual store level.

Torex Power-POS for convenience provides full POS functionality as well as store management, stock control, news management and mobile handset support features; it also integrates seamlessly with enterprise resource planning and data warehouse solutions.
