AF Blakemore opens new warehouse facility

AF Blakemore & Son have opened a new warehouse – Axcess10 – less than two miles from their Willenhall depot and close Junction 10 on the M6 motorway.

The facility comprises a 65,000sq ft warehouse (with eight metre eaves that can accommodate some 4,500 standard pallets) additional office suites and has complementary parking facilities.

The new depot has already accommodated an ambient range extension of around 800 lines. These comprise of approximately 300 international foods, 130 olives and oils, 85 “free from” products, 190 wines and 88 beers.

Barry Davies, Distribution Logistics' Director of A.F.Blakemore stated: “Axcess 10 will primarily assist us to accommodate range and volume growth for our valued customers/consumers. It also allows us to improve our operational efficiency together with safety throughout our operations.”

“Our reconfiguration plans for the Willenhall Depot allows us to create a recycling centre, thus reducing our carbon footprint whilst also providing new canteen facilities and alternative offices improving our standards for colleagues, suppliers and visitors. Following the reconfiguration we will also be able to provide more space within our chilled facility to again, accommodate range and volume growth.”
