McCain Foods (GB) Ltd is today proud to announce today that its Rustic Oven Chips have been voted by over 12,000 consumers as Product of the Year in the Home Cooking Category.
This prestigious accolade was awarded last night at the Product of the Year awards and marks another significant achievement for McCain's maverick Rustics brand.
McCain's Rustic Oven Chips took the market by storm at launch in January 2007. With only 3% fat, no cholesterol and the skins left on to retain maximum taste and nutritional goodness, this was a revolutionary chip.
Significantly, Rustics were also the first chip to score green‚ across the board on the new Food Standards Agency traffic light labelling system.
The independent Product of the Year 2008 survey had over 12,000 responses from households across the UK, who all voted for the "must have" products they felt were genuinely new and improved‚ or in some way groundbreaking.
Commenting on the win, Simon Eyles, Marketing Director, McCain Foods (GB) Ltd said: "We are thrilled that Rustics has received this significant endorsement from consumers and are proud to be able to display the Product of the Year‚ logo on pack.
"Voting for McCain Rustic Oven Chips in the Home Cooking‚ category is a clear demonstration of the increasingly health conscious commitments of Britain's consumers and we are delighted that we have been able to produce a low fat product which has been so wholeheartedly embraced."
