Baker Peter's Food Services secures Asda supply contract
Peter's Food Services has secured a multi-million pound contract with retail giant, Asda, which will result in more than 30 new jobs and a £650k investment at their South Wales Bakery in readiness for manufacturing to start early in the new year. The announcement comes hot on the heels of the £20m buyout at Peters in October, which saw new MD Mike Grimwood take over from the Griffiths family who had been at the helm for 10 years. The new agreement will see Peters supplying Asda with a quarter of a million savoury pastries (or 32,000 kilograms) each week. Peter's started supplying Asda two years ago, so a large additional contract shows that Asda have great faith in the Peter's business and its workforce. Customer satisfaction has been consistently high which has led to bigger opportunities such as this. The 30 new full time staff being appointed by Peters in January will cover a variety of skilled roles in production, engineering, product development, dispatch and sales, making the Bedwas facility one of the areas largest employers with more than 500 staff.
