Auchan Italy adopts NCR FastLane DeliBy Anna Cureton Four Italian outlets of French supermarket retailer Auchan have adopted the FastLane Deli solution from NCR to help speed up payment and free up staff in their in-store restaurants. NCRs self-service kiosks have been installed or are being implemented in the quick service restaurants in stores in Milan, Rome and in a new outlet opening in Venaria, Turin. Consumers will be able to use the kiosks to pay by cash, debit or credit card for one or more products from a set list. They will also be able to utilise the machines for loyalty card offers. The solution also has advantages for snack bar staff who will be able to concentrate on food preparation and delivery without the distraction of handling payments. FastLane Deli integrates with Auchans existing POS gate and is part of a range of self-checkouts from NCR. We chose NCR due to its self-service solutions, experience and because it is able to understand and respond to our needs, said Marino Vignati, IT director for Auchan. Also adopting NCRs FastLane technology is another top name in French retail: consumer electronics and leisure retailer FNAC. The kiosks, installed in the retailers biggest Spanish outlet in Madrid, are proving to meet the demands of non-food too, accepting FNAC store cards as well as loyalty cards. This installation represents the first time self-service has been adopted by the Spanish non-food retail sector, and further roll-out is expected during 2008.
