SCA completes transfer of P&G's European Tissue operationsSCA announces that the transfer of Procter and Gamble's European Tissue operations has been successfully completed. In the UK, the deal will mean the addition of the Charmin, Bounty and Tempo brands to SCAs current portfolio of tissue products including Velvet, Handy Andies, Wipe & Clean and Tork. The total purchase price is EUR 512million, and the first payment of EUR 329 million was made in cash in connection with the closure. The addition of Charmin, Bounty and Tempo to the portfolio gives SCA further prominence in the major multiples and independent retailers. The acquisition gives SCA key pre-requisites for the creation of an even better platform for consumer-driven awareness and will also serve to strengthen SCAs position in several important markets across Europe. Mats Berencreutz, Head of SCAs European Tissue Business, commented: Joanne Mathers, Brand Manager, Velvet, comments: Were very excited that the deal has now reached completion stage and the impact this will have on our business in the UK is considerable. Were proud to be bringing the Charmin, Bounty and Tempo brands into our fold and we are currently laying plans for marketing activity in 2008.
