New roll cage handling machine from MasterMover

Tuesday, 02 October 2007
MasterMover announces the launch of their brand new SM60 designed for moving loaded roll cages direct from the delivery vehicle tail lift.

Manufactured at the company’s site in Ashbourne the SM60 is the company’s latest addition to its roll cage handling range.

It has been designed specifically to move cages weighing up to 600kgs from the delivery vehicle’s tail lift into store using only one operator.

The SM60 is a stylish machine developed for the retail sector where it has long been recognised that a safer system of transporting laden roll cages from truck tail lift to store was required.

With conventional manual handling involving the risk of the load tipping on to the operator, hand injury or operator fatigue MasterMover recognised the need to develop a product to eliminate these risks and the SM60 represents a huge leap forward in the safe handling of loaded roll cages.

A brilliant coupling system is at the heart of the product’s operation. By clamping on to the base of the roll cage securely, the centre of gravity is shifted from the centre top of the cage to the base, reversing the danger of the load toppling on to the operator. The operator can use the SM60 safely on inclines or slopes knowing that there is minimum risk of injury and, for added security, auto braking and variable speed with emergency stop are fitted as standard.

Typically operating in confined spaces the SM60 benefits from tiny overall dimensions – comparable in size to a domestic vacuum cleaner – which means that it can be sited either on the truck, where it has its own 24 volt battery charger – or in the store where space is very often at a premium.

Yet, it is still big on performance, with 65kgs of pull and push force and excellent traction from the puncture proof tyres using the MasterMover weight transfer principle. It has the ability to rotate 180° which ensures excellent manoeuvring and turning, whilst the additional set of support wheels has been thoughtfully provided as standard to eliminate strain from the user when not connected to the roll cage.

Another major benefit of the SM60 is its ease of operation. Users can be trained within 30 minutes to operate the product safely and efficiently. Routine charging is both quick and simple with the sealed batteries, ensuring that the product is available at all times.

Andy Owen, Managing Director of MasterMover said: “With pressure from the Health and Safety Executive to reduce roll cage accidents caused by manual handling, the launch of a dedicated roll cage mover has been long overdue. I am delighted with the positive feedback received from over 200 SM60’s working at some of the UK’s best known retailers”.

MasterMover provides a free onsite demonstration to its customers so they can see the many benefits of using the MasterMover SM60 roll cage mover.
