Food Doctor joins forces with Cognosco FAST

Wednesday, 19 September 2007
Over the past two years, The Food Doctor has seen a significant growth in its national distribution.

From its origins in health food stores, to listings of its ambient products in most major supermarkets, to its current position as a brand with an impressive portfolio of products across ambient, in snacking, cereals and accompaniments, to breads and spreads, and ‘Just Steam’ ready meals in chilled in all major retailers.

This growth has been supported by the development of supplier partnerships with companies such as Rivermill Ltd, Noon/Kerry Foods and Mr Bagels. Juices, Smoothies and prepared fruit snacks are soon to be added, along with organic yoghurts being re-introduced.

As part of its mission to ‘change the way the nation eats for good’, The Food Doctor, wants to make healthy eating options available to consumers in the places they shop and visit everyday.

In order to help achieve this objective, The Food Doctor has joined forces with Cognosco FAST, to help increase penetration in the convenience and food service sectors, where requests have been consistently received for The Food Doctor branded range.

The Cognosco FAST (Foodservice Agency Sales Team) syndicated account management team prospects and grows business in food and drink channels away from multiple grocers.

Led by ex KP-McVities manager Dan Shaw, Cognosco FAST works with established food and drink companies that have quality products which are capable of much higher distribution in foodservice and impulse channels and have latent demand. Cognosco FAST assists with channel selection, trade marketing planning and at the sharp end – prospecting and growing business through sales management.

The opportunity identified for the Food Doctor is to extend distribution of The Food Doctor seeds, nuts and bars to make them available in the work place through major contract caterers, vending operators and impulse retailers. Cognosco FAST will manage business development through key foodservice wholesalers that supply the multiple operators in the foodservice sector.

Michael Da Costa, Managing Director of The Food Doctor said: “We are thrilled to be working with Cognosco. Further distribution within the food service and convenience sectors will mean big things for The Food Doctor in terms of continuing to drive the business forward and to be able to reach those consumers who enjoy our products where they actually want them, as well as to introduce them to a completely new population.”

Dan Shaw, Director of Cognosco FAST said: "Consumers are thinking much more about a careful balanced diet whilst they are at work – we’re delighted to be working with The Food Doctor range which helps contract caterers supply this need. We’re getting a lot of enquiries from the wholesalers and multiple foodservice groups already."
