Verco has supplied its Inline Merchandiser to Waitrose

The cabinets, which were initially developed on behalf of Waitrose and are designed to fit within the 1.2m module of an ambient shelving system, are being used to display chilled beers and wines in all new and refurbished Waitrose stores throughout the UK.

Commenting on the installations, a spokesman for Waitrose said: “We had no hesitation in approaching Verco to work with us on this new project.

“They have been one of our preferred refrigeration suppliers for many years as their cabinets are attractive, offer good value for money and are produced in the UK, thereby supporting UK industry.”

Verco sales and marketing director Colin Jones said the specification from the Waitrose engineering team required cabinets with a compact footprint to align with the 600mm base shelf of ambient systems.

"We responded with the Inline Merchandiser, which is based on our existing Cambridge cabinet but re-engineered to give increased merchandising space," he said.

The new cabinet offers high efficiency with low running costs and low noise output thanks to its use of the latest compact, horizontal rotary compressor. Heat rejection is also considerably reduced due to the refrigeration system’s use of heat to re-evaporate the condensate.

To maximise visual merchandising for supermarkets, convenience stores and forecourt shops, the Inline Merchandiser offers three shelves plus the base for BWS, and five shelves plus base for dairy merchandising.

It is available initially in a width to suit 1.2m ambient modules, with a 1m format to follow.
