Coffee Nation: extending Tesco contract

Since entering Tesco stores in 2003, Coffee Nation's premium quality self-service coffee has opened up an entirely new service category to Tesco's customers, offering quality coffee in a convenient format.

Tesco Express stores are now selling up to two million cups of coffee a year with like-for-like sales growing in excess of 15%. The contract extension will see Coffee Nation continuing to offer Tesco's customers fresh quality coffee across Tesco Express networks.

Whilst Coffee Nation's promise of premium quality coffee in seconds supports Tesco's commitment to offering customers efficient service at good value, the brand's move towards sourcing selecting beans for its blend from sustainable sources is also in keeping with Tesco's efforts to provide customers with ethically sourced products.

Scott Martin, chief executive, Coffee Nation said: “Coffee Nation is happy to be working together with Tesco to boost this category. Our self-service offering has proven to be a big hit with Tesco customers. We look forward to continuing work with Tesco over the next two years to provide even more of its customers with high quality, convenient coffee.”

Mark Mason, Buying Manager Tesco said: “We are delighted to be working with the market leader of self-serve gourmet coffee and are looking forward to maximising the opportunity this category brings to our business. Our customers love the fact that they can get a coffee bar quality coffee whilst filling up on fuel or topping up on groceries.”
