Greencore moves into Sushi

Greencore Sandwiches has acquired Sushi San Ltd, a small producer of sushi located in Crosby, Liverpool. Founded seven years ago, the business produces under both the 'Sushi San' brand and customer own-brand.

The founders of the business will continue their involvement for a period and work in conjunction with the new Greencore site director for Crosby, Graham Simpson to ensure a smooth hand-over. Graham was previous Interim Site Director at Greencore Sandwiches' Park Royal site.

Commenting on the move Di Walker, MD of Greencore Sandwiches said, “This small but important step takes us into a new and complementary area to our existing sandwich and snack salads business. The sushi market is now worth in excess of £45million and is growing at 48% year on year (source Nielsen scan data). We believe that Greencore can play a major part in its further development”.
