Metro poised to enter new markets
Ongoing international expansion is imperative, according to Zygmunt Mierdorf, member of the management board of Metro Group.

Speaking at the IGDs Global Retailing Conference, Mierdorf revealed Metro is opening its first cash and carry operation in Pakistan in the second or third quarter this year with new openings also targeted for Turkey and the Ukraine.
Metro, which operates across four key divisions cash and carry, department stores and electronic and food retailing has recently launched its consumer electronics retail brand, Media Markt, in Russia and Sweden.
You cant just play in mature markets, Mierdorf told delegates at the conference. Developing the groups retail branding and optimising its sales portfolio, however, went hand in hand with internationalisation, Mierdorf added.
