The Co-op has just announced the final figure it has donated to the British Heart Foundation, as part of a Valentine’s Day appeal - an impressive £70,330 has been raised by Co-op customers and staff.
The Co-op's donation to the charity equates to 2,930 nursing hours to help heart patients receive the care and support they need.
The Co-op donated 5p to the BHF from every Hallmark Valentine card sold in its stores, as part of the charity's Valentine Appeal. In addition, the Co-op arranged a Valentine's Day promotion with The Sun, so that for every copy of the newspaper sold on February 14th, the Co-op donated 1p to the campaign. Additional money was raised by Co-op employees during a fundraising event at The Co-operative Group's head office in Manchester.
The BHF's campaign aims to raise £1m to help fund BHF Heart Nurses and the charity's Heart Information Line to provide support and information to heart patients.
