Retailers make a mint with Mayfair

Thursday, 17 July 2008
Two lucky retailers have driven off with a new van each, as part of Gallaher’s ‘Make a Mint’ activity with Mayfair.

David Sherlock from South Kirby and S Radia from Leicester have both won a Vauxhall Combo 1.7 CDTi16v ECOTEC van for their business.

The ‘Make a Mint’ campaign ran throughout April and May, when the Gallaher sales force visited independent retailers with ‘crack-apart’ game cards that offered the chance to win one of the two vans, as well as a share of £10,000, including one prize of £5,000 and 10 prizes of £500.

Commenting on their prizes, both winners have different stories to tell.

David Sherlock - South Kirby Post Office, Yorkshire

“I honestly thought it was a wind up when I was told I’d won - apart from some football tickets once before, I’ve never won anything in my life! The van will prove incredibly useful for my business, as it’s a lot more practical for picking up bulk orders from the warehouse than my current car, meaning less trips, and a lot of valuable time saved. The fact that the vehicle is diesel is also a huge bonus.

“I’d like to say a big thanks to Gallaher, their sales force always provide extremely helpful advice on the latest lines and what to stock.”

Mr S Radia - Steins Lane Supermarket, Leicester

“I’m absolutely delighted to have won the van, it couldn’t have come at a better time, as my existing van is on its last legs and I was going to have to replace it soon. This will save me a fair amount of money!

“I’d like to thank Gallaher, and in particular the fantastic sales rep who made me aware of the activity and encouraged me to enter.”

Jeremy Blackburn, Gallaher’s Head of Communications, comments: “The ‘Make a Mint’ activity has proven to be a very popular campaign for Mayfair and it’s a fantastic prize which has gone to two very deserving retailers.”
