Yeah, yeah, recession, but where’s the nostalgia candy?

Anyone else up for a bit of light-hearted relief? After all the gloominess that has hit us this week (recession, credit crunch etc), I think it’s well needed.

Good to see then that the Times cottoned on to the fact that loads of retro treats have been circulating in the market recently.

Of course, everyone knows about the return of the new (old) Monster Munch from Walkers – thanks no doubt to the splendid coverage they received on TalkingRetail.com.

But what’s going on elsewhere? Well, that long-maligned brand Snickers, may well be returned to its original self: Marathon. And wouldn’t that be a glorious day.

Keen-eyed consumers could also have noticed the return of the Wispa Bar, another product with a suitably low-key marketing campaign (joke).

I wonder just what impact these sweets will have during the economic downturn / recession / credit crunch (delete where appropriate).

Will they be a way that people can look back to a better time with rose-tinted spectacles? To innocent times when things were OK?

Whatever, nostalgia is all the rage. Yet are there any that have been forgotten? Here’s some I though of really quickly: Terry’s Mint Pyramid (usually on my own with this one), silver coins, Giant Refreshers, Wham Bars.

Got any more?
