Londis aims to install its new Webshop online ordering service in 800 stores by the end of the year after trials showed it cut ordering times by at least 50%.
So far, 275 Londis retailers have signed up to Webshop, which catalogues products, provides current pricing, enables product comparisons and hosts a delivery window countdown.
Retailers are given a free portable barcode scanner to scan in from the shop floor products they want to order through Webshop.
Father-and-son retailers Tara and Manjit Chana, who run a Londis store in Brickhill, Bedfordshire, were the first retailers to trial Webshop.
“Orders that previously took four hours to complete now take just one-and-a-half hours and you don’t have to be an expert to use it,” said Manjit Chana.
