Bestway said it has donated £60,000 to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, money it raised at its annual Royal Ascot Charity Race Day in June 2012. The charity raises money to help the Royal Marsden provide world-class care for cancer patients, and to support the hospital’s pioneering work in cancer research.
The Royal Marsden’s director of marketing and communications, Rachael Reeve, said: “We’d like to thank Bestway for this kind donation and all the hard work its staff have put in to raise this money.
“Support like this helps scientists searching for cures and doctors who depend on the latest cancer treatments and technologies. Most of all it benefits cancer patients and their families and ensures we can make life better for people with cancer and keep striving towards a future without it.”
Bestway group chief executive Zameer Choudrey said: “The Royal Marsden does vital work both in caring for patients and supporting cutting edge medical research and we are proud to support its efforts.”
Bestway outlined its commitment to charitable initiatives, with the Bestway Group donating around 2.5% of its profits to the Bestway Foundation to support charitable causes in education and health in the UK and Pakistan. It said since 1987, the Group has donated over £13.4m in the UK alone to fund the Foundation in its charitable activities.
