Thank you, David Beckham

Many thanks to David Beckham for bringing out his own fish range, after my own list of possible music-related food products.

But will the media-savvy footballer's foray in to the frozen fish sector (there's a sentence I never thought I'd write again) actually mean that kids eat healthier food?

Yes, at first kids who look up to the ex-England captain may well eat the product because of the immediate hype.

However, I struggle to believe that these same youngsters will still be chewing on the Beckham sea range after a year or even six months, once the latest branded goods hit the shelves. New heroes, new ideas.

Retailers will probably disagree. Any kind of sales lift - especially in the current climate - is welcome news. As one commenter on this site (Dan the Omega Man) says "no matter what his reason is for selling the product", it should gain valuable attention.

I reckon it's best to sit on the fence with this one, then. And one thing Beckham will probably bring at least, so thanks again David, is more website hits.
