Our article about the new Honey Monster advert for Sugar Puffs has been attracting a lot of attention this week, with lots of people claiming it bears an uncanny similarity to sketches by hip comedy combo The Mighty Boosh.

What do you think? I've embedded the Sugar Puffs video below for your delectation.

And a Mighty Boosh "crimp" for comparison...

IT is a disgrace!! £3.2 million they have spent on it! And all for copying, it doesn't even sound right! Blatent rip off, So angry something needs to be done!!!

it's an outrage!!!
Amy 17 Mar 2008 11:53:38
It's such a blatent rip-off! The peeps on the ad can't even crimp! Leave it to the professionals a.k.a Noel and Julian! They studied crimpology, now I bet the Honey Monster didn't do that! It's sounds practically the same as the Soup Song! It totally lacks originality.
beth 20 Mar 2008 17:58:17
rip off p.s only howard (julian) studied crimpology vince(noel) studied fashion at st martains but still sugar puffs can do this the mighty boosh shall take them down they are the originators of crimp

jake 27 Mar 2008 10:18:45
it's a total outrage noel and julian can make a crimp in 5 secs and that crimp in the ad was rubish
Anonymous 31 Mar 2008 10:21:09
they are clearly copying the boosh!! SUE THEM well they are and so they should asif they spent so much money n that advert and they came up with that when it says "honey coated puffs in a milky bath" its sounds exactly like the soup song when it says... "cruchy friends in a liquid broth" I HATE SUGAR PUFFS
Sam You Al 31 Mar 2008 10:21:10
Yeah a bit of a rip off. and to be quite frank.. its bad. But I s'pose Noel and Jlian didnt just invent it, It's just a form of synchronised singing thats been around for years. They developed on it to make a crimp, I love the Boosh but Im not sure on this.
katie 31 Mar 2008 10:21:11
This is an outrage!!! it isn't even a good crimp - i bet the honey monster never studied crimpology!!! What do they think they are doing exactly?? The boosh should sue!! The boosh rock
Harriet 31 Mar 2008 10:21:43

Jon 01 Apr 2008 16:09:41
The Sugar Puffs advert sounds EXACTLY the same as the Carrott & Corriander rap from the Mighty Boosh, as a huge fan i'm disgusted!!
MilkyJoe 02 Apr 2008 10:38:31
This is an outrage! Actually so poor it makes me want to cry. Leave it to the profesionals - Vince and Howard own the crimp! =] Mighty Boosh 30th october! OOOOH YEH!
Babu Yagu 04 Apr 2008 08:23:23
Eels on a bicycle, I thought this was an april fools palaver or summink - the whole farce sounds more like a mighty boosh episode itself than it does an actual news story. What in the name of halibut made the sugar puffs marketing team think they could get away with a shoddy knock-off of some other fellers' original work?
LizzieC 15 Apr 2008 11:23:09
Personally, I think a better 'comparison' video would be the Soup Song - it's such an obvious rip-off of it. And an ad company are getting paid millions for this?! Down with the Honey Monster!
Old Gregg 23 Apr 2008 12:22:19
IM OLD GREGGGGGG!!!!
Harriet 06 May 2008 14:24:33
"Ahhh Jokey, jokey You didn't see it coming Jokey, jokey Honey Monster GET AWAY! I kill you!" Pure Boosh Genius They can't be beaten They will always be one step ahead of you sugary rip-offs!
Steph 06 Jun 2008 15:30:35
You should have put the soup song up by Mighty Boosh, thats the one they blatantly ripped off, even up to the laugh at the end!!!
Roar 25 Jun 2008 12:52:54
for God's sake people are peeing their pants at the shock of an ad agency ripping off something that is funny and almost original. If you hear a good joke we repeat it to fiends. In a capitalist world which is grudgingly adhered to by an ever increasing apathetic society who gives a ****.
Naboo 30 Jun 2008 09:00:37
I'm Naboo that's who. I'm going to have to turn my back on Honey Monster. Vince has gone round with his NIcky Clark Straighteners (hottest you can get) to sort that ball bag out.
Bollo 11 Jul 2008 08:31:04
I gotta bad feelin about dis
Smithyyy 30 Jul 2008 16:48:58
