Blinded by science?

The Daily Mail, and a certain grocery trade magazine website that shall remain nameless, are today running a story based on a report from "charitable trust" Sense about Science.

The report rubbishes manufacturers and retailers health claims about removing chemicals and additives from their products. Sainsbury's and the Co-op are both singled out.

But maybe the august organs in question should have looked into the background of Sense about Science first. The organisation has been accused of being a front for a neo-conservative clique of former Marxists, with links to the GM crops lobby.

There's some interesting background on the Sourcewatch website and an article in the Guardian
