Holby City blamed for binge drinking

Drinks body the Portman Group has complained to the BBC and Ofcom about an episode of hospital drama Holby City, claiming it glorified "excessive and rapid drinking".

It said: "The show ended with a scene featuring two medics in a bar. After a stressful day, they were shown ‘downing’ five shots of tequila each in rapid succession.

"It was also implied that their drinking would lead to a sexual encounter. The programme finished without any portrayal of the harmful effect that would have been caused by this drinking."

Well, it makes a change from retailers getting the blame for everything.
