Is Harrogate too posh for Tesco's?It was only on Tuesday that Harrogate was identified as one of the few postcode areas in the UK that Tesco doesn't dominate, but the supermarket is (unsurprisingly) already on the case. The Yorkshire Post is now reporting how independent retailers are leading the charge to try and block Tesco's plans. I'm sensing a battle similar to the one that took place in Hamstead, North London, several years back, where outraged residents blocked the siting of a McDonald's for 11 years. They lost in the end, mind.
